Jots from a jetlagged head

A huge HOLA from foggy LA!

Internet access from the hostel isnt exactly bottom dollar so i'll have to be quick!

Plane flight over was as easy as they come... got my bag searched in sydney before i even checked in but US customs didnt even glance sideways at me! no complaints!

There was only 130 peope on our flight so most people got 2 or more seats each! too easy!

Scored a 1 litre bottle of Absolute Vodka for $23 aussie doolars at the duty free shop so that should tie me over for at least a few days before my big detox!

Landed in LA at 7am with the whole place blanketed in fog... i thought it was bad at the airport but as i got closer to santa monica it became so thick you couldnt see the tops of the buildings when you walked along the street!

The hostel opened at 10 so i spent a couple of hours overlooking santa monica pier - not that i could see much - you couldnt see the water from the beach for the fog :)

The weather here is so bizzare! at 7am it was basically the same as it has been in sydney minus the rain. By 10am the temp had really dropped (big fog clouds when you breath) but by 11:30am it had hit about 30 degrees!

The bayside markets were on this morning... the general consensus being that every stall owner needed at LEAST a 20ft 'truck' with a 5 litre V10 to hall around their 50 punnets of organic strawberries and their tent! bizzare! The fruit was really nice though (at least after the stuff they served on the plane) - they even had a stall with a sign that read "Don't eat whole grains if you dont know how to eat them" - "demonstrations every 1/2 hour"

I met up with a couple of aussie girls and two blokes from chicago when i went down to the pier and we ended up hiring bikes and riding all along the beachfront and back! was really cool! We're all hooking up tomorrow to venture out to knotts berry farm! cant wait!

Santa monica is just like movie world - but with homeless people dotted about everywhere - seems the laws on vagrancy here are quite lax. They dont seem to bother anyone though, except the guy that mows the grass in the morning - he told them all to shove off and there were a few four letter words thrown back at him!

Catching up on some much needed sleep tonight... there is a movie marathon playing at the hostel - i'll give myself 'till 9pm before my body shuts itself down!
